Performance of Enterprises by District (2023-24)




•    The data provides a performance analysis of enterprises formed in various districts of Kerala during 2023-24, covering the number of enterprises, investment amounts, and employment generated. 
•    Ernakulam leads in overall performance with the highest number of enterprises (10,437), largest investment (₹1,013.77 crore), and maximum employment generated (25,387 jobs).
•    Thiruvananthapuram follows closely with 10,056 enterprises, ₹518.62 crore in investments, and 19,550 jobs created.
•    Kollam has 8,330 enterprises and substantial investment (₹504.44 crore), generating employment for 17,198 people.
•    Malappuram and Kozhikode also perform well, with over 9,600 enterprises each, investments exceeding ₹600 crore, and employment generation in the range of 20,000 to 23,500 jobs.
•    Pathanamthitta, Idukki, and Wayanad have the lowest enterprise numbers, investments, and employment generated. Pathanamthitta (3,675 enterprises, ₹197.36 crore investment) and Wayanad (2,782 enterprises, ₹212.18 crore investment) lag behind in terms of enterprise formation and economic impact.
•    Kasargod has the least number of enterprises (4,269), the lowest investment (₹325.41 crore), and generates fewer jobs compared to most other districts.

Key Observations

•    Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram are the top performers in terms of both economic impact and employment generation.
•    Wayanad, Idukki, and Pathanamthitta are areas with relatively lower industrial and employment growth.
•    The total investment across all districts is ₹7,048.65 crore, generating 218,179 jobs through 103,596 enterprises.


Conclusion


•    The District Wise Performance data for 2023-24 highlights a strong growth trajectory in enterprise formation across Kerala, with a total of 1,03,596 enterprises established, resulting in significant economic contributions and job creation. 
•    Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Malappuram lead in enterprise formation and employment generation, with Ernakulam standing out for the highest investment of over ₹1,000 crore. 
•    The collective efforts of all districts have generated employment for over 2.18 lakh individuals, underscoring the vital role of entrepreneurship in driving economic development and supporting livelihoods across the state.
