Number of New Leprosy Cases Detected

The number of new leprosy cases detected in Kerala shows a fluctuating pattern from 2016-17 to 2024-25. Cases increased from 496 in 2016-17 to a peak of 705 in 2018-19, then slightly declined to 675 in 2019-20. A sharp drop to 311 in 2020-21 likely reflects the impact of COVID-19 on case detection. Following this, cases rose gradually to 489 in 2022-23 but then declined again to 368 in 2024-25, indicating overall variability with periods of both rise and fall over the years.
