Proportion of 60+ Population_Census 2011 Vs 2001


The table shows the number of people aged 60 and above in Kerala's districts in 2001 and 2011. In 2001, 10% of the state’s population was elderly. By 2011, this had increased to 13%. Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Alappuzha had the highest elderly population in both years. Pathanamthitta had the most, with 18% in 2011. Malappuram and Wayanad had the lowest, but their numbers also grew. This shows that the elderly population is rising across all districts in Kerala.
