In 2023–24, most of the local paddy cultivation in Kerala happened during the winter season. Winter had the largest area under cultivation and the highest total rice production. Summer had the least cultivation but showed the highest productivity. Kasaragod district had the best performance in summer. Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Malappuram produced a lot of rice in winter. Ernakulam and Kannur showed good results in the autumn season. Many districts did not grow paddy in summer or autumn. This shows that paddy farming in Kerala mostly depends on the winter season.
