Enrolment of M.A. Students in Colleges, Kerala (2023–24)

  • In the first year of M.A., 8,924 students were enrolled, of which 6,021 (67%) were girls. In the second year, enrolment was 8,598 students, with 5,454 (63%) girls.

  • Economics (2,590 first year, 2,535 second year) has the highest enrolment, followed by English (2,145 → 2,089) and History (1,313 → 1,267).

  • Malayalam (697 → 675) and Hindi (374 → 335) continue to attract a moderate number of students, while smaller enrolments are seen in languages such as Kannada, Tamil, and Sanskrit.

  • Social science subjects like Sociology, Philosophy, Politics, and Psychology maintain a steady intake, though with fewer than 300 students each.

  • Female participation is highest in subjects such as English, History, Economics, and Sociology, indicating a strong presence of women in humanities and social sciences.
