Minerals in Kerala - production and royality

In 2023-24, Kerala earned ₹26,596.64 lakh in royalty from 3.61 crore tonnes of minerals, while in 2024-25 (up to August), it has collected ₹9,830.01 lakh from 1.05 crore tonnes. Minor minerals dominate revenue, with granite building stone as the top contributor, followed by ordinary earth and china clay. Major minerals show lower earnings, with ilmenite and sillimanite leading. Overall, both production and royalty collection in 2024-25 are lower than the previous year, though minor minerals, especially granite, remain the mainstay of Kerala’s mineral economy.
