
As of 31 August 2024, the Kerala Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency has undertaken extensive rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge activities under the Jalanidhi programme. A total of 2,912 groundwater recharge structures, 35,006 rainwater harvesting tanks, and 4,939 open well recharges have been implemented. The highest number of activities were reported from Kottayam and Idukki districts. However, homestead watershed-based rainwater harvesting has not yet been implemented in the state.
