B.A. Degree Enrolment in Colleges, Kerala (2023–24)

  • Total B.A. enrolment: 50,818 (First Year), 49,226 (Second Year), and 48,058 (Third Year), showing a gradual decline across years.

  • Girls form the majority (around 65%) of the total students: 33,069 in First Year, 31,627 in Second Year, and 30,813 in Third Year.

  • English (9,998), Economics (9,994), History (9,428), and Malayalam (8,517) are the most popular subjects, together accounting for more than 75% of total B.A. enrolment.

  • Professional-oriented courses like BBA (1,583) and Mass Communication (275) attract fewer students compared to traditional arts subjects.

  • Cultural and performing arts subjects such as Music (175) and Bharatanatyam (16) have very low enrolment, but show notable female dominance.
