Status of ODF Plus Achievement in the State

Observations

  1. Total Villages and ODF Plus Villages:
    • All 1,509 villages in the state are ODF Plus, representing 100% achievement of this basic sanitation milestone.
  2. Model Villages:
    • A significant majority (1,382 villages, 91.6%) are classified as Model category villages. These villages are exemplary in their sanitation and cleanliness standards.
  3. Rising Category Villages:
    • Only 10 villages (0.66%) fall under the Rising category. These are villages on the verge of advancing to higher sanitation and cleanliness benchmarks.
    • 118 villages (7.8%) are categorized as Aspiring category villages, indicating that these require significant interventions to improve their sanitation and infrastructure.
  4. Liquid Waste Management:
    • A total of 1,447 villages (95.9%) have arrangements for liquid waste management, showing substantial progress in waste management practices.
    • However, 62 villages (4.1%) lack arrangements for liquid waste management and require attention.

Conclusions

  1. Universal ODF Plus Achievement:
    • The state has achieved 100% ODF Plus status, demonstrating strong commitment and successful implementation of sanitation policies.
  2. Strong Leadership in Model Villages:
    • The high proportion of Model villages reflects effective community involvement and governmental support in maintaining and improving sanitation standards.
  3. Targeted Support for Aspiring and Rising Villages:
    • Special focus is needed for the 128 villages (10 Rising and 118 Aspiring) to help them progress to the Model category.
    • These villages likely face challenges such as infrastructure gaps, funding constraints, or lack of awareness that need to be addressed.
  4. Liquid Waste Management Improvements:
    • While 95.9% of villages have arrangements for liquid waste management, ensuring the remaining 62 villages adopt such measures will be crucial for holistic environmental sustainability.
  5. Sustaining Progress:
    • Continued monitoring, support, and maintenance programs are necessary to sustain the achievements and further enhance sanitation and hygiene practices.
